Chipwrapper Yahoo! Pipes
Of course, you can make your own Yahoo! Pipes mashing up data from UK news sources - but Chipwrapper has already done it, so let's share. You can find all of the Chipwrapper Pipes listed on this page, or under this account on the Yahoo! Pipes site.
At the moment there are Pipes that take the main RSS feeds from the major newspapers and broadcasters in the UK, and mash them together, using the top item from each feed. These Pipes cover the main headlines, sport and football.

Chipwrapper RSS feeds from Feedburner
In order to get a better idea of which feeds are being used, Chipwrapper RSS is distributed via Feedburner. In most cases the original Yahoo! Pipe is also pre-processed on the Chipwrapper server to add headline credits. This means that "Major earthquake in China" becomes "BBC: Major earthquake in China".
You'll get more stable results if you pull in the RSS from the Feedburner address - because even if the Yahoo! Pipe powering a feed changes, the Feedburner address will stay the same.
Plus you get some other bits of pre-processing. On a Sunday, for example, the Feedburner headline feed swaps the pipe it is using, so the Sunday newspapers are automatically included.

The search engine on Chipwrapper is a version of Google's Custom Search engine. If you'd like to use it as the basis for building a different version with filters for regionality or sport or science or whatever, the base XML file can be downloaded here.

Chipwrapper Headline Buzz
The Chipwrapper Headline Buzz consists of two elements. The first is a Yahoo! Pipes mash-up that takes the top ten headlines from 11 UK news sources - the BBC, Daily Express, Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Guardian, Independent, ITN, Sky News, The Sun, The Telegraph and The Times.
Chipwrappper - UK Newspaper Long Headlines Feed
The second part is a script on the Chipwrapper server that detects which are the most popular words used within those headlines. This publishes an RSS feed, where the title of an item is the word, the description indicates the number of times it has been used in UK online news headlines in the last hour, and the link is the URL of a Chipwrapper search for that word.
