Headline credits in the Chipwrapper RSS feeds

If you've been subscribed to the Chipwrapper RSS feeds, over the last couple of days you should have noticed a small change in the way that the headlines are presented.

You used to just get a list of the latest top online stories from 9 of the UK's leading newspapers - 10 on a Sunday. However, this didn't identify which headline was from which paper.

I've made some behind-the-scenes changes in the way that the feeds are aggregated.

Now the RSS feeds from the newspapers are mashed-up by Yahoo! Pipes, and then the output of that runs through a little Perl script on the Chipwrapper server.

This detects which headline is from which publication, and pre-pends a credit to the start of the headline. So, whether you are subscribes using an RSS reader, a live bookmark, or the Chipwrapper custom Google Toolbar Button, at a glance you can see which story comes from which paper.
